Britney's Review of Splintered

Splintered (Splintered, #1)

Splintered by A. G. Howard
Published Date: January 1, 2013
Summary: This stunning debut captures the grotesque madness of a mystical underland, as well as a girl's pangs of first love and independence. Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers-precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, bug she manages to keep it together. For now. When her mother's mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she though was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining ocean of Alice's tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice's mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have
dark motives of his own.

My Rating: 5/5 Stars!

My Review: To be completely honest I added this book to my TBR simply because I thought the cover was gorgeous, and I knew it had something to do with Alice in Wonderland. Then one day when I was at the library they had this book, so I decided to take it and read it. I've never been happier to have taken a book out of the library. This book had me hooked from page one. Everything about it was just so wonderful. Then there is the wonderful Jeb, who I instantly fell in love with. Alyssa loves her family so much, and is willing to do just about anything to get rid of this curse. Morpheus is pretty wonderful too, even if I love Jeb more. Some of the twists that happened in this book, I didn't see coming at all. I thought about giving this like a 4.99999999 out of 5 stars because of something that happened at the end of the book that I won't mention because spoilers. All in all this has become one of my favorite series, so much so that I just went out and bought this book and the second one, Unhinged, so I can enjoy them any time I want. Well done, A.G. Howard, well done.
