Britney's review of Half Bad

Half Bad by Sally Green
Publication Date: March 4, 2014
Summary: Half Bad by Sally Green is a breathtaking debut novel about one boy's struggle for survival in a hidden society of witches.
You can't read, can't write, but you heal fast, even for a witch.
You get sick if you stay indoors after dark.
You have White Witches but love Annalise, who is one.
You've been kept in a cage since you were fourteen.
All you've got to do is escape and find Mercury, the Black Witch who eats boys. And do that before your seventeenth birthday.
Easy.

My Rating: 4/5 Stars

My Review: I wasn't expecting a whole lot from this book. The book didn't sound that interesting to me, but it was interesting enough to give a go in reading it. Some people have said that the book was a bit strange, and the beginning was slow and boring. I actually really enjoyed the book from the beginning until the end. I loved getting to know all about Nathan's life before he began living in this cage, I think it helped me connect with Nathan. If the book had jumped in to right when he was being trapped in the cage I think that I would have been confused, and possibly not cared nearly as much about Nathan. I loved the concept of the book with the whole good and bad witches, especially with the White Witches not actually being all that good. I thought many of the so called good White Witches were actually horrible. I loved many of the side characters, including Annalise and Gabriel. I'm excited to continue on with the series.
